either way remember to pack only essentials, Weight does matter and there's only so much room in your truck for equipment.
Kids tend to want to take way too much gear so I would help them pack to avoid bringing too much stuff, using space bags is a good solution if space is at a premium. You may find that you end up with a mini world war with the younger crowd you will have to figure out a middle ground and stick to it.
