Wompatuck state park
When you need a simple get away Wompatuck State park and campground is a smart choice, my family has been camping here for many years and we still enjoy every visit more than the last.
The camping area features 262 total sites and is divided into separate areas for electric(140 sites) and non electric sites (122 sites). One feature my kids love is MT. Blue spring all are welcome to take free spring water and believe me after riding bikes for a couple hours the cool fresh spring water really hits the spot.

When you stay here you are only a short trip to some real exciting destinations, Boston is only thirty minutes north or perhaps you like the beach? Nantasket Beach Reservation is just a short drive down route 228. you can easily use Wompatuck as a springboard to some real nice day trips, this really adds to its value as a place to stay because at $15.00 a night for a electric site or $12.00 a night for non electric you are getting a bargain( these rates were current July 2009 please check for current rates).

Since my family is familiar with Wompatuck state park let me show you around a little, this picture is of a site on "L" road which is in the electric area. You will find many of the sites have cut throughs like this one to the bath houses.
The electric sites are always reserved more so I suggest booking early. Personally I like the electric sites, my wife prefers the nonelectric more since theres usually less people there.

This is a site on the "X" road loop behind the main bath house for the non electric area, the MT Blue spring is a five minute hike from this site and well worth the trip! There are many good sites in this loop I would caution you to be careful some are real narrow.

This is what all the bath houses look like throughout Womapatuck state park believe me they are nothing fancy how ever they do the job. You are going to want water shoes, sandals or flip flops for the showers here because the floor are state park standard (bleached once a day).

Welcome to the local natural mountain spring, MT Blue spring it looks like nothing more than a shack but inside you can get cool fresh water to quench any summer thirst. A good tip is to save empty bottles so you can take some spring water home with you. Speaking of water there are many ponds on the property including Holly pond which is really close to the non electric sites.

Holly pond is not real big how ever its a nice bike trip and not far from any where in the camping area, to get there just go to non electric and follow the main road till the end take a right, your first left and follow the road till it becomes a bike path, stay on the path for about five minutes and your there! You can get a free trail map at the rangers station at the entrance to the camping area and you will see it is clearly marked.
The one thing that I like to bring to your attention is there is a sizable hill going down to the pond so you may want to walk your bikes down/up like my kids and I did.
I think you can start to see why my family likes staying at Wompatuck state park, if your kids like to walk, ride bikes or hike they will be in their glory when camping here.
