Lets take the Kids Camping

The funny thing about taking your kids camping is how they can create different situations just by being themselves.

Your goal I would hope is having fun overall, Kids have a great time doing simple things, take them for a nature hike,let them catch tadpoles or anything they can have some freedom with.

The weather sometimes will give you ideas of what of to do with your kids, be creative and loosen up! Rain is not always the end of the world, let them run around in their bathing suits and burn off some energy.

Beat The Heat

To really beat the heat nothing can compare to a water balloon fight the kids love this no matter what the age and its just plain family fun.

When you take kids camping you open up their view of the world, make this fun for the whole family. Let them show you what they can find in the woods or know about historical places for instance

I would suggest you visit places such as state parks, historical sites or places they may find interesting.

Lets face kids of all ages become bored quickly so be prepared and keep your cool remember the whole point of a vacation is to relax,the most stressful thing that can happen is leaving a important item at home so pack early and make a check list so you do not forget the important items.

When considering what to bring for cloths keep in mind space is limited so do not over do it, some parents pack the kids cloths in plastic bags one for each day this ensures they have plenty to wear .

A very useful tip if space is limited is to use space bags you now can purchase space bags that seal like a zip lock bag, just in case you have never seen a space bag they are large plastic bags that seal air tight and compress your cloths so you can fit a-lot more clothes in less space

Plan for disaster

Lets face kids play hard so count on at least three extra outfits due to mud,water and whatever else they get into.We have even found ourselves cooking filet of sneaker some times!

This looks silly how ever when you are out of dry shoes it works great. We make sure we have water shoes every trip just in case mother nature goes a little crazy.

Personalization goes a long way

When it comes time to buy the kids camping gear let them help shop this will make them feel like their part of the trip planning, most kids just want to help and letting help can make a world of difference.

You will find most retailers have kids specific lines of camping gear just keep a eye on quality sometimes you my find inferior products that are over priced.

The recipe for Success

The most important element for having a successful camping trip is enjoy yourself, I know that's the whole point however you will find it very easy to get to involved in the details and forget to just relax.
