Keeping Kids Safe is no accident

Vacation time is supposed to fun so keeping kids safe and happy will ensure this happens as planned. No matter the activity you should plan ahead so you have all the right equipment to keep everyone safe and sound.

No one is saying you have to be the safety police but please pay attention and be aware of what’s going on.

The most popular activity I enjoy with my kids is bike riding and wearing a helmet and right foot wear are the key points for safety. I would like to point out wearing a helmet is not enough you have to have the right size and wear it properly.

Lets explore some pointers on proper helmet safety, first make sure it fits snug but not to tight, second make sure the helmet is centered and not to far forward, third inspect it for cracks or missing material on the inside.

I would not suggest slip on sandals or flip flops as they can fall off causing an injury. The best choice for footwear is sneakers or other shoes that tie.

You are going to find that keeping kids safe and out of trouble when you are camping is different than when your at home, getting to know your camp ground before allowing the kids the run of the place is a great idea.

I mentioned proper foot wear above this is true of any activity in the outdoors so what ever the activity make sure everyone has footwear that is comfortable and safe enough to handle rocks, small streams ECT.

When you plan on being gone over a couple of hours a would suggest bringing a First Aid kit this will ensure that a small problem does not become a large problem quickly. A little knowlegde can go a long way make sure the kids know not to walk alone, avoid thick brush and what ever else your perticular situation presents.

A great way to prepare for Keeping kids safe is a good checklist we have several version available for your use and I will be adding some more for specific topics in the next month.
