Camping
is quickly becoming a very popular vacation idea for many families,
with the increase of people comes a risk to the very environment
they seek to enjoy.
We all must become more aware how our presence is affecting nature, that is why I decided to explore with you how to camp in an eco friendly way. There are various ways the average family can be more Eco friendly and some will even save you some of the green everyone loves money!
The whole point of camping is to enjoy nature and relax if we are
not careful we could end up ruining our parks and forests, more and
more new campers arrive at camp grounds each year. They are either
unaware or simply do not care about some the most important rules of
camping, hiking, canoeing or back packing.
the
way you prepare food can have an impact on nature, try not to pour
grease onto the ground, throw out the left overs never feed the wild
life and remember any food left out will attract some mid night
raiders!
On our last camping trip even with a spotless campsite we were hit three nights by raccoons, make sure you tie up your food totes.
We recommend strong bungee cords for keeping your food safe.
Kids
no matter where they come from love nature so help teach them to
protect it so their kids can enjoy it too. Simply by not littering,
using recycled materials and being careful of how you dispose of
chemicals can you greatly help preserve nature for every one.
Believe it or not even your tent can be greener, taking measures to prolong the life of your tent or gear in general saves materials.
When you invest in the right gear your really helping
mother nature in a way since you won't be adding trash to the dumps
and wasting more raw materials to produce more gear.
A great way to teach respect for nature is to challenge the whole family to collect and recycle plastic, card board and glass while on vacation, at the end of the trip tally up how much each member and the whole family saved and give out a prize.
You may be surprised on how much you can collect in a five day vacation, this is something you can easily do year round at home as well.
We always try to use the old idea of "leave nothing but foot prints" when we camp, we have to protect nature so everyone can enjoy .
