What do you know about Coolers?
When camping the only thing keeping your food cold, pest free and dry are your coolers, so remember to treat them well. The overall difference you will find lies in how they are designed you can have several lids designs, wheels and even electric powered units. Safety in numbersWhen I camp I have two units, one for frozen food and also one for the average item needing refrigeration sandwich meats, beverages ect. Lets face it you have kids and they always are in and out of the coolers, I recommend that purchase a cooler with a split lid to help keep your drinks cold. Location, location, locationThe location of your cold storage will determine how effective it is so plan where your kitchen area will go wisely, a shaded area with some tree cover is ideal.
You also want to check how tightly the lid closes and if it tries to pop open on its own.

Coolers are just like any type of equipment
choosing wisely will always pay you back. A word of caution this is not a item to try and save on because you will end up spending more money on ice in the long run then you could ever save at the cash register. Avoiding Midnight VisitorsNow that you have a good idea of what to buy lets talk a little about midnight visitors that may stop by. I have not been camping yet when some sort of animal has not tried to break into my food storage. There are certain actions that can help prevent this so please read carefully, first always clean up completely after every meal this will help from attracting unwanted company.
Closing timeWhen you plan on calling it a night throw all your scrap food and trash away at the local dumping station and finally securing your coolers with bungie cords or rope works great. Warm is sometimes betterThere is another side to coolers and that is electric models the key difference here is most will cool and warm your food.

Those of us that have camped a-lot know having to keep running to the store to buy ice is a pain and depending where you are expensive. The electric coolers/warmers help solve this all you need to do is get a camp site with electric most times the difference in site cost will be less than you spend on ice. The Open RoadI am sure you already thought of this however imagine not having to worry about your food spoiling on a sweltering day because its safe and sound in your electric cooler plugged into your 12v outlet in your truck.
